Dairy and Beef Farm Services

Comprehensive Herd Health
  • Dairy Herd Consultation
    • We offer herd-wide performance audits. This involves walking through your herd, facilities and evaluating computer records. We take a deep dive into all areas of herd health; including vaccination protocols, treatment protocols, milk quality, reproduction, transition cow health, youngstock health, and nutrition. We establish herd goals and set benchmarks for success. We conduct quarterly meetings with your entire farm team to ensure we meet our goals. These audits are included for clients enrolled with our regular herd work.
  • Beef herd consultation
    • We are available to help improve your beef operation, no matter the size. We consult in areas of disease prevention, disease treatments, reproduction, and production.
Calves
  • Calf raising consultation
    • Calves are the future of your operation. Their success is critical to the success of the farm. Let us help you optimize your calf program. With calves there are many critical control points for success. We evaluate your maternity area, milk feeding systems, colostrum management, facility design, hygiene protocols, biosecurity and more. Our goal is to improve ADG, reduce adverse health events and calf mortality to produce great future cows.
  • Procedures
    • We believe in providing pain relief for all types of painful procedures.
    • Common procedures we perform on-farm are castrations, dehornings and Hernia repairs.
Reproduction
  • Pregnancy diagnosis
    • We provide fast and accurate pregnancy diagnosis using the latest ultrasound technology. We are capable of pregnancy staging and can perform fetal sexing if required.
  • Breeding soundness exams
    • We conduct on-farm semen evaluation for breeding.
Obstetrical Procedures
  • Knowing when to intervene with a calving can be difficult. Generally, if the cow is in Stage II labor (her water has broken or you see calf legs), the cow should expel the calf within 2 hours. If a cow takes longer than this, is in distress, or meconium is present, call us immediately. The sooner we intervene, the more successful the outcome for the cow and calf.
  • We can help with all types of difficult calving and post-calving scenarios, like uterine torsions, C-sections, uterine torsion, fetotomy, and uterine prolapses.
Vaccination Protocols
There is no “cookie-cutter” vaccination program. It is rare for us to recommend the same vaccination protocol to different farms. We design our vaccination protocols with disease risk, farm work-flow structure, convenience, and economics all in mind.
Surgical Procedures
  • Castrations
  • Laceration repairs
  • Displaced abomasum correction
  • Mass removals
  • Enucleations
  • Rumenotomy
Sick Animal Work
The most common ailments we encounter with cattle are bloat, diarrhea, cows off-feed, down cows and respiratory disease, to name a few. We use a combination of physical evidence and diagnostics to find the underlying cause of disease. Our recommended treatments are up to date with current veterinary therapies. We always work to educate our clients on preventing disease when possible.
